The SE-2 worker droid,[2] also known as the farm droid, was a loose-jointed[5] model of utilitarian menial labor droid featuring a monocular photoreceptor with dual-imaging plane. An SE-2 named "Essie" worked on the farm of Galen Erso on Lah'mu,[2] and he alerted the Erso family when he spotted Director Orson Krennic's Imperial shuttle approaching the homestead[4] in 13 BBY.[2] T-1N8, nicknamed Tina, was another SE-2 worker droid who resided on the planet Koboh.[6] SE-5 was a SE-2 droid that served as a pilot for the criminal Finto Gang on Batuu.[7]

Behind the scenes

The SE-2 worker droid first appeared in the 2016 Anthology film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.[4] Concept art of the droid titled "HOMESTEAD DROID VERSION 9A" was done by Jake Lunt Davies and was designed on the wishes of the film's director Gareth Edwards as a agricultural droid for the Erso homestead. Other designs considered were the[8] A-LT Utility Droid,[9] also by Lunt Davies,[8] and a design by Matt Allsopp that would ultimately evolve into the ferry droid[10] MA-13.[11] The SE-2 worker droid was subsequently first identified in the film's accompanying reference book Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide written by Pablo Hidalgo.[2]
