- "The ring with the sapphire gem grants its wearer eternal life but drives them to madness."
- ―Eustacia Okka
The Ring of Immortality[1] was one of the two Rings of Vaale, a pair of rings created by the Architects of Vaale. According to legend, the ring provided its wearer with immortality, but eventually drove them to madness. Its negative effects could supposedly be removed if worn alongside its counterpart, the Ring of Fortune, granting its wearer immense power.[2] At some point, the ring was in possession of an infamous space pirate many generations of the reign of the Galactic Empire, though it was acquired by a relative of Ronen Tagge. According to Tagge, the ring came to signify the family's greatness, and it eventually passed into his possession.[3]
Detta Yao, student at the Shadow University, wished to acquire the rings, recruiting the rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Aphra and Professor Eustacia Okka to do so. Upon arriving at the Ring of Immortality's supposed location, in the Workshop of the Architects of Vaale on the planet Dianth, Yao and Aphra found that the ring was not present.[1]
