Republic 56 is the fifty-sixth issue in the Star Wars: Republic series of comics. It and Part 1 were collectively retitled as Republic 56 for their collection in Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume 3: Last Stand on Jabiim. It was published on July 30, 2003 by Dark Horse Comics.
Publisher's summary
When his master is killed in a battle with Jabiimi rebels, Anakin Skywalker finds himself assigned to a squad of similarly "orphaned" Padawans. The non-stop rain and violent storms on Jabiim suit Anakin's mood of despair punctuated with rage. Some of the other Padawans feel the same way. Whether they're aware of it or not, they all have chips on their shoulders and are looking for either revenge… or a way to follow their dead masters in death.
When a routine re-supply mission turns into a life or death fight, Anakin is faced with a choice: either set his feelings aside and follow his training, or give into his anger and use the power of the dark side!

- ↑ The Essential Reader's Companion and The Official Star Wars Fact File Part 30 VEN 1-6: Asajj Ventress establish that the Battle of Jabiim happened in the first few months of the Clone Wars, before the start of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, overriding the original dating of late in the war.
