Rentalles was a terrestrial astronomical object[3] located in the Rentalles system within the D'Astan sector of the Outer Rim[1] and New Territories.[2] It was situated in grid square O-4 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Rentalles' wastes were inhabited by the creature known as the huna-netre.[3]

At one point, Dagra Van, the beastmaster of Crakka the Hutt, visited Rentalles to capture a huna-netre, which Crakka presented to her cousin Jabba in order to gain access to his palace.[3] Around 1 BBY,[4] Lieutenant Thom Hudd, who had previously been told the story of Crakka and the huna-netre by a friend on[3] the planet[5] Batuu, recounted the tale to his captor, Vaneé[3]—attendant of the Sith Lord Darth Vader[5]—while being held prisoner in Vader's castle[3] on the planet Mustafar.[5]

Behind the scenes

Rentalles was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in flashbacks in the fourth issue of the Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle comic series, written by Cavan Scott and published by IDW Publishing[3] on October 23, 2019. Prior to the release of the comic, the astronomical object was mentioned in a preview published on StarWars.com on October 16 of that year.[6] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the world Rentalles was mentioned in Star Wars Miniatures Battles Companion, a rulebook for the Star Wars Miniatures Battles tabletop miniature wargame written by Stephen Crane and published by West End Games in 1994.[7]
