The Reegian system was located in the New Territories portion[2] of the Expansion Region. It lay within the Sumitra sector at the coordinates O-7 on the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] By 2 BBY,[3] it hosted a deep space cache for an organized rebellion against the Galactic Empire that was secretly led by Senator Mon Mothma. The Reegian system was included in a map of the galaxy that listed rebel safe worlds, starfighter hubs at level five or higher, operations headquarters, shadow planets, and deep space caches, mistakenly being placed in the Outer Rim Territories. The map was sent to Mothma[4] in 2 BBY,[3] and eventually archivist Hendri Underholt archived it in the compilation of non-electronic documents known as The Rebel Files.[4]

Behind the scenes

The Reegian system was introduced into the current Star Wars canon through the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Rebel Files, written by Daniel Wallace.[4] Originating in the Star Wars Legends continuity, the Reegian system was first mentioned in "Extract of Minutes from the 251st Meeting of the Alliance High Command," a short companion narrative within the 1990 roleplaying supplement The Rebel Alliance Sourcebook. Written by Paul Murphy, the book was published as part of West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[5]

Star Wars: The Rebel Files places the Reegian system in the Outer Rim Territories, where as it is put in the Expansion Region by in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix released alongside the Star Wars Galaxy Map[1]—both written by Jason Fry and published on StarWars.com on June 24, 2025.[6] In line with the Reegian system's placement in Star Wars Legends,[7] this article considers the Expansion Region as the canonical placement of the system.
