A red supergiant was a supergiant star that had progressed past the main sequence and became larger than a red giant. It was usually the penultimate stage of a star's life before the fusion reaction completely stopped and the star collapsed in on itself in a supernova. The star then turned into either a neutron star or a black hole, both types of compact stars.[1]
Primus Goluud was a red supergiant[1] located in the Deep Core.[2]
