Radar was a type of sensor. It could be installed into a droid chassis;[1] Viper probe droids included radar transceivers in their sensor array.[2] Radar worked by emitting pulses of energy and then examining the way the energy was reflected back at the sensor.[3]
Behind the scenes
- "In Star Wars, ships don't have radar; they have sensors."
- ―Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game
The 1987 first edition of Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game published by West End Games claims that the term "sensors" should always be used over "radar" in the Star Wars setting.[1] Nevertheless, later sources, including those published by West End, continued to make use of both terms.[3]
