- "We're also carrying large quantities of Raadan shurgrain, Karlini tea, and Chadian rum."
"The shurgrain I understand. It helps balance out the digestive systems of most carbon-based humanoids if their water source has been fouled. That could be useful if the fighting gets close to the cities or the planet's main watershed." - ―Gregar Typho and Padmé Amidala on the Namrelllew
Raadan shurgrain was a type of grain that could help balance the digestive systems of carbon-based humanoids upon consumption if their water supplies became contaminated.[1] The shurgrain partially shared its name with the Outer Rim moon Raada.[2] During the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems[1] in 22 BBY,[3] the Wookiee starship Namrelllew carried Raadan shurgrain, Karlini tea, and Chadian rum as cargo. When Captain Gregar Typho and Senator Padmé Amidala traveled on the vessel for their mission to the planet Hebekrr Minor, the former told the latter what cargo the Namrellew had on board. Amidala expressed her understanding of the Raadan shurgrain's value as a commodity and its usage in potential warzones.[1]
Behind the scenes
Raadan shurgrain was mentioned in Queen's Hope,[1] a 2022 young-adult novel written by E. K. Johnston[4] as the third installment of Star Wars: Queen's Series.[1]
