- "She looks like a Quaraxian"
"I've never heard of that species."
"They're virtually extinct. They age very slowly and possess not insignificant intellectual prowess." - ―Jedi Masters Qui-Gon Jinn and Shaak Ti, on Phaedra
Quaraxian was a sentient species that aged very slowly and possessed significant intellectual prowess. By the time of the Republic Era, the species were virtually extinct, with the exception of individuals such as the Quaraxian female criminal Phaedra.[2]
Behind the scenes
A Quaraxian first appeared, albeit unidentified, through the appearance of Phaedra in the sixth issue of the 2022 comic miniseries Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca. The issue was written by Marc Guggenheim, illustrated by David Messina and Paul Fry, and published by Marvel Comics[1] on September 28, 2022.[3] The 2024 reference book Star Wars Encyclopedia: The Comprehensive Guide to the Star Wars Galaxy, later stated that Phaedra was a Wroonian.[4] However, the fourth issue of the 2025 comic series Star Wars: Jedi Knights—also written by Guggenheim, illustrated by Madibek Musabekov, and published by Marvel[2] on June 4, 2025[5]—indicated that her species was Quaraxian.[2] When asked, Guggenheim confirmed that he had intended for Jedi Knights 4 to confirm Phaedra's species as Quaraxian.[6]
