- "Rotted crushed pyussh berries are lure for small animals of night."
- ―Mitth'raw'nuruodo
Pyussh berries were a type of berry found on a planet in Wild Space. The Chiss Mitth'raw'nuruodo used berries that had been fermented and crushed as a lure for an indigenous species of small nocturnal animals as part of his assault on Imperial forces from the Venator-class Star Destroyer Strikefast.[1] Mitth'raw'nuruodo used the explosive berry to create diversion, bombing an Imperial camp and sneak on a cargo hold.
Behind the scenes
Pyussh berries first appeared in the new Star Wars canon in the 2017 novel Thrawn by Timothy Zahn[1] and the book's audiobook version of the same name.[2] They were first pictured in the first issue of Star Wars: Thrawn, a 2018 comic adaptation of the novel illustrated by Luke Ross.[3] In the Star Wars Legends, they were first mentioned in the 1995 short story Mist Encounter by Zahn. The story was first published in Star Wars Adventure Journal 7[4] and was later adapted into the first two chapters of the canon novel Thrawn, where the berries first appeared.[1]
