The Protodeka was a prototype droid mobile ground siege weapon designed by a Colicoid engineer and manufactured by Geonosians on the planet Raxus Prime that was used by the Confederacy of Independant Systems during the Dark Reaper crisis.
Description
A giant, crablike droid[3] prototype, the Protodeka was slow, heavily armored mobile ground siege weapon. It had a slow turn rate, but pursued its target to exhaustion. It was equipped with massive laser cannons and a lethal homing concussion missiles, which had a long seek time[1] and range but were very slow. The droid was also armed with a powerful claw to grab enemy targets that wandered too close.[3] As initial Protodeka prototypes were vulnerable to attack from behind and at close range, Geonosian engineers added a special short-range area-effect seismic pulse weapon that shattered ground units within range.[1]
History
The Protodeka was designed by a Colicoid engineer[2] and manufactured by Geonosians[1] on the planet Raxus Prime.[3] During the Dark Reaper crisis, the Protodeka saw action on Raxus Prime and the planet Thule, where a pair defended both Count Dooku and the ancient Sith city of Kesiak, which contained the Dark Reaper. They were destroyed by Obi-Wan Kenobi on Raxus Prime, and Mace Windu and Luminara Unduli on Thule, where each of the victors utilized the TX-130 Saber-class fighter tanks to win their respective battles against the droid.[4]
Designed to turn the tide in favor of the Confederacy, the Protodeka turned out to be too expensive to mass-produce, so only a few were built. After the Dark Reaper crisis, the Protodeka's Colicoid designer was sealed away within the Fortress of Axion.[2]
