"Keize in position. Minimal life support. Atmosphere twelve percent expected density. No alarms. Status outside?"
"Squadron Five is chasing the last of the rebel escorts. They're no threat but escape is a possibility."
―Soran Keize and Major Rassus assess the situation in the Pormthulis system[5]

The Pormthulis system was an Expansion Region star system where the disabled Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Edict was under guard by New Republic forces. In 5 ABY, the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing captured the Star Destroyer and defeated the New Republic escorts. The fighter wing then took apart its Quasar Fire-class cruiser carrier Allegiance for parts to make the Edict hyperspace-capable again.

Decription

The Pormthulis system was located in the Kira sector of the Expansion Region[1] and Trailing Sectors,[2] situated at the coordinates N-16 on the Standard Galactic Grid. The star system was connected by[3] the Enarc Run[4] to the Kira and Pax systems, the latter being situated along the Hydian Way[3] super-hyperroute.[6]

History

"I want to be done as swiftly as possible. Gone by the time rebel reinforcements arrive."
―Soran Keize, to Rassus[5]

During the late Galactic Civil War, the disabled[5] Imperial II-class Star Destroyer[7] Edict drifted through the Pormthulis system, under guard by New Republic forces.[5] In 5 ABY,[8] the Galactic Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing located the Edict and arrived to capture the Star Destroyer. Some of the fighter wing's TIE fighters, including the 204th's Squadron Five, intercepted the New Republic escorts while squadrons Two and Four made surveillance flybys of the Edict.[5]

Major Soran Keize, the 204th's special advisor, landed his TIE aboard the Star Destroyer and investigated some possible activity at section fourteen, where he found Captain Oratio Nenvez and almost twenty other personnel that had hidden from the New Republic. The major invited the Edict's remaining crew to his unit. With the Edict recovered from the New Republic, Keize has the 204th's Quasar Fire-class cruiser carrier Allegiance taken apart so that the Star Destroyer could escape with the 204th. The Edict's remaining crew were able to refit their vessel and make it hyperspace capable within six hours and the fighter wing left with the Edict.[5]

Behind the scenes

The Pormthulis system first appeared in the 2020 novel Shadow Fall: An Alphabet Squadron Novel, written by Alexander Freed.[5]

Same galaxy, same map. In the rare event something needs to be changed, it will be discussed. (In response to: Hi @jasoncfry.bsky.social, was hoping you could confirm for Wookieepedia purposes that the hyperspace routes depicted on the Galaxy Map given out at Celebration are intended to be the same routes as in Legends. Sorry to bother, but would make our lives much easier to have it confirmed!)" (screenshot).
