Piranha eels were a type of eel that traveled in shoals.[1] In 382 BBY,[2] while traveling through the treacherous atmosphere[1] of Wild Space's[3] Planet X known as the Veil, the Path of the Open Hand Force religion member Marda Ro noticed balls of liquid swarming toward the Scupper, the ship of the smuggler Sunshine Dobbs that Ro and her companions were traveling aboard, that resembled a shoal of piranha eels.[1]

Piranha eels were mentioned in Path of Vengeance, a novel written by Cavan Scott and released in 2023 as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia series'[1] Phase II.[4]
