Perlemia was an industrial world[2] located in the Perlemia system of the Core Worlds.[1] It was the site of famous orbital shipyards. Perlemia's starshipwrights constructed many of the scout ships used to chart the hyperlane that would become,[2] upon the signing of the Corellian Treaty[3] in 25,000 BBY,[4] one of the two formal boundaries of the Slice region. The hyperlane would accordingly become known as the Perlemian Trade Route.[3]
Around the time of the onset of the Tionese War, fought between the Galactic Republic and the Honorable Union of Desevro and Tion[2] beginning in 24,000 BBY,[5] after the Republic belatedly realized the threat posed by Tionese raiders, it began a crash program of producing warships, including at Perlemia's shipyards. However, the effort came too late, with Tionese ships unleashing new weapons known as pressure bombs that nearly completely destroyed the Perlemian facilities.[2]
Behind the scenes
Perlemia was introduced in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart.[2] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Perlemia system, and therefore Perlemia itself, in grid square L-9.[1]
