- "Shells. They were smuggling iridium inside shells."
"Yes, sir. They were taking the stolen iridium from the mines to an old surplus underwater transport, sir. Possibly Gungan; we still haven't positively identified the vehicle. They then transported it to a group of fishing boats where they formed it into small disks and hid them inside the shells for shipment offplanet." - ―Imperial Commander Alfren Cheno and Ensign Eli N. Vanto
The Paklarn system was a star system in the Abaar sector of the Mid Rim Territories. It fell within grid square K-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid[1] and contained the terrestrial planet Paklarn. During the Imperial Era, the smuggler Nevil Cygni set up an operation to smuggle iridium off Paklarn that involved hiding iridium stolen from mines in the shells of grist mollusks.[2] In 11 BBY,[3] Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo of the Galactic Empire uncovered Cygni's operation, and the latter's men were then arrested.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Paklarn system was mentioned in "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[1] on June 24, 2025. Both were written by Jason Fry.[4]
