Observation was one of two subdivisions that the Galactic Empire's CompForce comprised of, with Assault being the other subdivision. It was an elite unit that essentially served as loyalty spies, spying on, and within, Imperial Military units and starships.[1]
Behind the scenes
CompForce's Observation subdivision was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Dawn of Rebellion, a roleplaying supplementary sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying series that was published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2018.[1] Observation originally debuted in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was mentioned in West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game sourcebook Imperial Sourcebook, released in 1989.[2]
