Assault was one of two subdivisions comprising the Galactic Empire's CompForce, the other being Observation. It was an elite unit that was dispatched on special missions that often appeared to be settling personal vendettas rather than missions crucial to the Empire's security. The training regimen of the Assault subdivision was harsh enough that members who completed it were fortunate.[1]
Behind the scenes
CompForce's Assault group was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Dawn of Rebellion, a roleplaying supplementary sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying series that was published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2018.[1] The Assault subdivision originated from the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was mentioned in West End Games' sourcebook Imperial Sourcebook, which was released in 1989 for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[2] Assault's first appearance was in "Operation: Shadowstrike," a three-part adventure within West End Games' 1996 Instant Adventures roleplaying book.[3]
