- "The laser sword…that's what I want."
- ―Shaku desires Obi-Wan's second lightsaber
Obi-Wan Kenobi's second lightsaber was the second lightsaber constructed and wielded by Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi following the loss of his first one during the battle of Naboo.
Description
Kenobi, wielding his second lightsaber
Built to replace his first lightsaber,[4] Obi-Wan Kenobi's second lightsaber contained a kyber crystal[3] that emitted a blue plasma blade.[4]
History
Construction
Sometime after the Invasion of Naboo, Obi-Wan Kenobi sought to construct a new weapon[4] after he lost his first lightsaber in a duel on Naboo against the Sith Lord Darth Maul.[6]
Usage
- "Forget whatever they dug out of the ground. The laser sword... That's what I want."
- ―Hudso Shaku wanting Kenobi's lightsaber
Kenobi utilizing his lightsaber during the mission to Dallenor.
When the Jedi Council assigned Kenobi a mission to the Mid Rim Territories planet of Dallenor to confirm an archeologist team's discovery of a Jedi holocron, Kenobi used the lightsaber to defend himself and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker from a group of pirates.[2]
In 29 BBY,[8] Kenobi wielded the weapon during the mission to Carnelion IV.[9]
Kenobi utilizing his saber during the Rescue of Yoda.
When Grand Master Yoda was captured from Glee Anselm, Kenobi and Skywalker launched a rescue mission unbeknownst to them that it was actually a test for the two Jedi.[10]
In 22 BBY,[11] Kenobi wielded the weapon during the unrest of the Separatist Crisis, when he sliced off the hand of the Clawdite Zam Wesell, the bounty hunter assigned to assassinate the Naboo Senator Padmé Amidala, in the Outlander Club, a nightclub located in the underworld of the planet Coruscant.[1]
He also wielded the weapon during a skirmish with the bounty hunter Jango Fett on Kamino.[1]
The weapon was taken by the Geonosians[12] when he was captured by Separatist leader Count Dooku on Geonosis. During the First Battle of Geonosis, Obi-Wan used a lightsaber that was given to him by fellow Jedi Knight Sephjet Josall.[1]
Kenobi later built his third and final lightsaber following the Battle of Geonosis and his promotion to Jedi Master.[13]
