Sephjet Josall

Sephjet Josall was a human male who served as a Jedi Knight in Jedi Order. In 22 BBY, Josall was part of a Jedi assault team that Jedi Master Mace Windu led to the planet Geonosis to rescue Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had been captured by the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Josall and the other Jedi infiltrated the Petranaki Arena, where Kenobi was to be publicly executed alongside his Padawan Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padmé Amidala, and then revealed themselves to battle Separatist battle droids. During the fighting, Josall provided Kenobi with a lightsaber while fellow Jedi Knight Nicanas Tassu armed Skywalker. The Jedi took heavy casualties during the battle but ultimately claimed victory with aid from clone reinforcements.

Biography

Sephjet Josall was a human male^[1] who served in the Jedi Order during the reign of the Galactic Republic^[2] and attained the rank of Jedi Knight.^[1] During the Separatist Crisis^[2] in 22 BBY,^[3] Josall was part of^[2] an assault team of 212 Jedi^[4] that Jedi Master Mace Windu led to the planet Geonosis with the goal of rescuing Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had been captured by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Kenobi had been brought to the Petranaki Arena on Geonosis along with his Padawan Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padmé Amidala to be publicly executed by a trio of beasts. As the prisoners fought for their lives against the creatures, Josall and the other assault team members infiltrated the arena and then revealed themselves when Windu confronted Confederacy leader Count Dooku.^[2]

Josall was among the Jedi who descended to the arena floor, where numerous Separatist battle droids emerged to fight them. Alongside fellow Jedi Knight Nicanas Tassu, Josall made his way to Kenobi, Skywalker, and Amidala, who were riding on the back of a reek they had gained control over. Josall then threw a spare lightsaber he was carrying to the unarrmed Kenobi, with Tassu providing a blade to Skywalker. As the fighting continued, many Jedi perished and eventually the surviving Jedi still fighting on the arena floor were surrounded by droids, with Josall and Tassu not among their number. A clone army then arrived to reinforce the Jedi, allowing them to gain the upper hand and defeat the Separatist forces.^[2]

Personality and traits

Josall had tan skin, brown eyes, and while on Geonosis had a bald head.^[2]

Equipment

While fighting on Geonosis, Josall wore brown and tan Jedi robes including a brown belt. He used a blue-bladed lightsaber himself and provided a second blue-bladed saber to Kenobi.^[2]

Behind the scenes

Sephjet Josall was portrayed by assistant editor Joseph Jett Sally^[5] in the 2002 prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.^[2] The Jedi battle in the Geonosis Arena scenes were filmed on Stage 3 at Fox Studios, Sydney, between August 10 and August 15, 2000.^[6] In the current Star Wars canon, Josall's name was used in the mobile card game Star Wars: Force Collection,^[1] which initially launched in 2013. Although the launch of Force Collection predates^[7] the Star Wars canon reset of 2014,^[8] Lucasfilm Story Group member Leland Chee confirmed that the game was kept updated to fit with canon.^[9] The name originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where the character was first identified by Pablo Hidalgo in his "Ask the Master" column in the seventy-seventh issue of Star Wars Insider magazine,^[5] which was published on August 3, 2004.^[10] Hidalgo confirmed the name was based on Jett Sally's name.^[5]
