- "He found me in a school for young geniuses when I was just five and brought me here."
- ―Niv Drendow Apruk, to Emerick Caphtor
The Umbaran boy[2] Niv Drendow Apruk attended a school for young geniuses in[1] his[2] youth.[1] Between around 243 BBY and 242 BBY,[3] when Apruk was five years old, the Ithorian scientist Baron Boolan found him in the school.[1] Immediately recognizing the Umbaran as a super genius in the field of demented biological research,[4] Boolan took him to[1] the Kharvashark Ruins on[5] the Outer Rim[6] Tarabba sector moon Vrant Tarnum where he taught Apruk how to nurture his love for science.[1] In 228 BBY,[7] the Umbaran mentioned his time in the school to Jedi Master Emerick Caphtor when the two traveled to the Kharvashark Ruins to investigate the origins of the Force-consuming Nameless creatures.[1]

ESCAPE FROM VALO with Daniel José Older & Alyssa Wong on Spotify (backup link) specifies that Niv Drendow Apruk is around seventeen to eighteen years old during the events of The High Republic: Escape from Valo. The novel takes place one year after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, which equates to 229 BBY per Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia. Therefore, he must have been born between around 248 BBY and 247 BBY. The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone 3 establishes that Apruk was found by Boolan in the school when he was five years old, therefore placing his finding between around 243 BBY and 242 BBY.

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates Starlight Beacon's destruction to 230 BBY. The implementation of the Guardian Protocols, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia places in 229 BBY, took place one week after Starlight Beacon's fall according to The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1. As The High Republic Adventures – Dispatches from the Occlusion Zone 3 takes place one year and a few months after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, it must be set in 228 BBY.
