Niro was a male Duros who lived during the later Republic Era.^[3] Niro grew up as an orphan on the streets of a crime ridden city together with his friend Colby. After the two helped a criminal gang led by a Duros man called Lazlo raid a local grocery store and casino, Niro was captured by the arriving police droids, while Colby was able to flee with the gang.^[3] Years later, Niro had become a deputy in the local police force, serving under a human marshal. After the marshal killed Lazlo during a heist, Colby, now known under the name "Cad Bane", returned to the city together with his girlfriend Arin to take revenge. On the old streets where they once lived, Bane met Niro again and embraced him, before Niro told him that he was now a police officer, which angered Bane. Later that night, Bane met the marshal and managed to kill him in a showdown, but Arin was wounded and Bane gave up and was captured.^[4] The following years, Niro was promoted to marshal. He got in a relationship with Arin and the two together raised her and Bane's son Isaac, before Arin eventually passed away. After Bane was released early from his imprisonment on Torano, he returned to the city to take revenge and in a showdown in front of the police station, shot Niro dead, leaving Isaac an orphan.^[2]

Behind the scenes

Niro first appeared via the trailer for the 2025 Disney+ animated miniseries series Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld and had his name confirmed by its Disney+ subtitles.^[5] He debuted in "The Good Life," the fourth episode of the series, which premiered on May 4, 2025. As a child, he was voiced by Eric Lopez,^[3] while Artt Butler voiced him as an adult in the two following episodes.^[4]^[2]
