Nabu was a principal deity of the Grizmallti, the human inhabitants of the planet Grizmallt. At some point around 4000 BBY, the Grizmallti discovered a Mid Rim Territories planet that they named in honor of Nabu. The Grizmallti colonized Nabu almost a century later, and the planet's name shifted to "Naboo" some time afterward.[1]
Behind the scenes
Nabu was first mentioned in Nexus of Power, a 2016 Fantasy Flight Games sourcebook for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny roleplaying game.[1] The unverified claim that Naboo was named for the deity Nabu was introduced on the Wookieepedia page for Naboo on April 14, 2010.[2] Nabu additionally shares a name with the real world Babylonian god of wisdom and writing.[3]
