- "The bisected remains of the creatures, each split in two by a laser sword, were identified as Indoumodo kouhuns by myriapodologists from the Coruscant Zoo."
- ―Police Commissioner Exantor Divo, Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious
Myriapodologists from the Coruscant Zoo were able to identify kouhuns (pictured) used in an assassination attempt on Senator Padmé Amidala.
A myriapodologist was a specialist who studied certain arthropods,[1] with the occupation's name being shared with the type of creature known as myriapod.[2] In 22 BBY,[3] myriapodologists from the Coruscant Zoo were involved in a Coruscant Security Force (CSF) investigation of an assassination attempt on Galactic Republic Senator Padmé Amidala on[1] the Core Worlds[4] planet Coruscant.[1] Amidala's bodyguard, Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker, had bisected with his lightsaber a pair of kouhuns,[5] venomous arthropods[1] from the Wild Space[6] planet Indoumodo,[7] after they had been stealthily inserted into Amidala's apartment.[5] The myriapodologists subsequently identified the creatures from their remains. The bisected kouhuns were preserved in a canister as evidence, with their venom sacs removed in order to attempt the creation of an antivenom.[1] In 34 ABY,[8] information from the CSF file on the case, which mentioned the myriapodologists' involvement, was published in the book Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, which was authored by New Republic Police Commissioner Exantor Divo.[1]
Behind the scenes
Myriapodologists were mentioned in the 2018 reference book Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, authored by Pablo Hidalgo.[1] In the real world, myriapodologists practice myriapodology,[9] or the study of myriapods—a group of arthropods that includes centipedes and millipedes.[10]
