"Maze Run" is a short story written by David J. Williams and Mark S. Williams that appeared in the magazine Star Wars Insider 131 in 2012.

Plot summary

Prior to the events leading up to the Battle of Yavin, Han Solo and Chewbacca took a lucrative job to smuggle supplies to an illegally operating energy-gathering space station. The station, known as Firebase Alpha, was located dangerously close to the supermassive black hole at the heart of the Rishi Maze dwarf galaxy, which meant that only pilots of extraordinary skill could reach it. On the approach to the station, the Millennium Falcon ran afoul of automated attack drones operating from the ancient wreckage of an enormous Sith starship. After being contacted by Firebase Alpha, an energy surge began to build in the Falcon's forward cargo hold. It turned out that the station was in fact a base for the Rebel Alliance, and that Han was unknowingly smuggling an Imperial-provided bomb which was intended to destroy the facility. To overcome a damaged door mechanism, Han was forced to conduct an extravehicular spacewalk to eject and dispose of the explosive device.
