An individual worked as a pilot for[2] the pirate queen[3] Maz Kanata during the High Republic Era.[2] In 228 BBY,[1] Kanata assisted the Jedi Order and Republic Defense Coalition as they undertook missions to cross the Nihil pirates Stormwall hyperspace barrier using the Sunvale device to rescue refugees from the Nihil's Occlusion Zone region of space and bring them to Republic space.[2]
The pilot took part in one mission alongside Jedi Master Forsyth Wry where they were sent to rescue five refugees. As the pilot and Wry transported the refugees back to Republic space, all seven were killed.[2] Later the same year,[1] before Jedi Master Avar Kriss carried out one such mission of her own, she mentally recalled the death of the pilot, noting their mission had been the second failed mission undertaken.[2]

Maz Kanata's pilot was mentioned in the 2024 novel The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, written by Tessa Gratton and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[2] Phase III.[4]
