The Maher system was a star system situated in the Unknown Regions within grid square G-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It was orbited by the Garbage Moon of Maher.[2] In 33 ABY,[3] the system was a three week trip from[2] the First Order's mobile superweapon Starkiller Base, which was built inside the planet Ilum.[4]
The First Order employed the human Marialew to transport trash from the base to the system's garbage moon a few times by 33 ABY. In that year, the First Order stormtrooper FN-2187 arranged to accompany Marialew on one trip with plans to sneak native creatures of Ilum aboard Marialew's ship and relocate them to the moon.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Maher system first appeared in the comic one-shot issue Age of Resistance - Finn 1. The comic was written by Tom Taylor and published by Marvel Comics[2] on July 3, 2019.[5] It was identified as the "Maher system" in "Star Systems of the Galaxy,"[1] an appendix accompanying the Star Wars Galaxy Map, an article on StarWars.com featuring a map of the galaxy designed by Christopher Ibbitt with contributions from Jason Fry.[6] The appendix was authored by Fry and posted on June 24, 2025.[7]
