Lunae Minx was a Twi'lek female clubgoer from the planet Ryloth. She was a sultry temptress who was a regular at the Outlander Club on the planet Coruscant during the last decades of the Galactic Republic. Minx often visited the club to say hello to her acquaintance Ayy Vida, a fellow Twi'lek.

During a night in 22 BBY, Minx stood at a table in the Outlander and talked with the con artist Achk Med-Beq and Vida when the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker entered looking for bounty hunter Zam Wesell. Skywalker was briefly distracted by her dazzling looks before going back to searching for Wesell. When the bounty hunter was disarmed by Kenobi, Minx, Vida and Med-Beq turned to stare.

Biography

Lunae Minx was a Twi'lek female native to[1] the Outer Rim Territories planet[2] Ryloth.[1] Minx was a clubgoer[3] and a sultry temptress who used her charms to reel in would-be lovers.[4] During the last decades of the Galactic Republic, she was a regular at the Outlander Club,[1] a nightclub and gambling hall in the Uscru Entertainment District[5] of the planet[6] Coruscant.[5] Minx was an acquaintance of[1] the Twi'lek dancer and assassin[7] Ayy Vida[1] and the con-artist[8] Achk Med-Beq.[1] Minx and other Twi'leks often visited the Outlander Club to say hello to Vida.[4]

During a night[9] in 22 BBY,[10] Minx drank and stood at a table in the Outlander Club with Vida, Med-Beq,[9] the lurking Quarren Ren-Quarr,[11] a Klatooinian, and two Humans.[9] Minx, Med-Beq, and Vida and had an[9] impromptu[11] chat and as they did, the Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker walked by their table. He and his master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, were in the club, searching for the bounty hunter Zam Wesell after an assassination attempt on the Senator Padmé Amidala.[9]

Minx caught his eye and the padawan was briefly distracted by her dazzling looks. After focusing back on the task at hand,[4] he walked away from the table with Minx looking back at him. Skywalker walked by the table again, and shortly thereafter, Wesell was disarmed with Kenobi's lightsaber, causing Minx, Vida, and Med-Beq to glance at the situation. The Padawan told the clubgoers to go back to their drinks and the group left the club.[9] While the Jedi interrogated Wesell outside, both Vida and Med-Beq had left Minx and ventured off to different parts of the club.[6]

Personality and traits

Minx was acquainted with Ayy Vida and Achk Med-Beq.[1] The Twi'lek used her considerable charms to attract would-be lovers. When she caught Anakin Skywalker's eye, he was briefly distracted by her dazzling looks.[4] Thought to be truly stunning,[4] The Twi'lek possessed brown eyes and was distinguished by her light purple skin[1] that had mottled dark purple spots that went along her lekku and down her arms.[9] Her skin color was considered quite rare for her species.[1]

Equipment

Minx wore a floor-length black dress and a silver headress on her visit to the Outlander Club[9] in 22 BBY.[10] She also carried with her two cloth accessories she draped around her arms.[9]

Behind the scenes

"I was purple in [Episode II] and it took about six hours to do! My call time was at 3 a.m., and my makeup took until 7 a.m., and we wouldn't start shooting until two hours after that. The makeup went all down my arm and they airbrushed spots down the tentacles. I was exhausted by the end of the day."

Lunae Minx was created for the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones,[12] which released on May 16, 2002.[13] Katie Lucas, daughter of Star Wars creator George Lucas, portrayed Minx and designed the character's costume with help from[12] costume designer[9] Trisha Biggar.[12] Lucas was shown photos for design, and knowing her character would be in a nightclub, wanted something "sexy". She also wanted her character to be an alien, thinking the idea was cool.[12]

Shooting for the Outlander Club scenes started on July 17, 2000 at Fox Studios, Sydney.[14] Lucas's call time was three am, and her makeup application—which had airbrushing done on the character's lekku and makeup going all the way down her arms—took until 7 am, with shooting filming starting two hours after that. Lucas ended up exhausted at the end of filming.[12] Minx and other patrons of the Outlander Club were named by George Lucas and his film production company, Lucasfilm, during the production of the movie.[15]

Minx was first revealed when Lucas, in costume, introduced the twenty-third episode of the Episode II behind-the-scenes video series on location.[16] The episode, "R2-D2's Don," was released on January 2, 2001.[17] The character would make her first appearance in an illustration in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Movie Storybook, authored by both Jane Mason and Sarah Stephens Hines[18] and released on April 23, 2002.[19] Lunae Minx was first identified in StarWars.com Databank entries for Ayy Vida and Achk Med-Beq[20][8] posted on June 14, 2002,[21] though she was at one point known to fans as "Nabrina Smoo."[22] In an Episode II Depth Commentary available on StarWars.com that could be accessed through the DVD-ROM home release of Attack of the Clones[23] on November 12, 2002,[24] the character was listed as being played by "Jenna Green,"[23] a pseudonym used by Katie Lucas.[12] In the 2003 StarWars.com article "Cantina Roll-Call: Shedding Light on Some Alien Aliases," Minx is identified as "Nabrina Smoo" in an image in the article but is referred to as Lunae Minx within the text.[15]
