A luma was a portable industrial glowrod, commonly used in mining and construction operations.
In 2 ABY, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa each used a luma illuminate their path through a coway shaft on Mimban, though they quickly turned their devices off after realizing the tunnel was naturally lit by bioluminescent lichen.[1] Later, in 4 ABY, Leia carried a pocket luma when she rescued Luke and Dev Sibwarra from the Ssi-ruuvi Shree-class battle cruiser Shriwirr.[2]
