- "Oh, we'll lay them low from Old Lettow
To distant Gardaji
Our every story told for the glory
Of our Empire's Army." - ―An Imperial marching song, mentioning Lettow and Gardaji
The Lettow system,[1] known as "Old Lettow", was a location mentioned in an Imperial marching song that Zare Leonis and other Imperial cadets sang during their morning running drills.[2]
Behind the scenes
Lettow was first canonically mentioned in the 2015 junior novel Servants of the Empire: Imperial Justice, written by Jason Fry for the Star Wars Rebels: Servants of the Empire series.[2] In Legends, it was first mentioned in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, written by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace, as a Core Worlds planet where the Legions of Lettow, a splinter group of Dark Jedi, were headquartered in the early days of the Galactic Republic.[3]
