"Not recommended for control of: flesh-eating daggerworms (Trenwyth), brain crawlers (Cheelit), Maxilan's explosive bloatworm (Lanteeb)."
―Instruction leaflet for Happy-Bore Medicated Dewormer included in Rey's survival guide[2]

Lanteeb was an astronomical object[2] located in the Lanteeb system of the Outer Rim Territories' Bri'ahl sector in grid square I-17 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It was the homeworld of Maxilan's explosive bloatworm, a type of worm that parasitized happabores, creatures found on various worlds throughout the Western Reaches. It was mentioned alongside the worms on instructions for Happy-Bore Medicated Dewormer that the scavenger Rey included in[2] her[3] survival guide[2] by 34 ABY.[4]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, Lanteeb was mentioned in Rey's Survival Guide, a 2015 replica journal written by Jason Fry.[2] The world originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in the 2010 novel Clone Wars Gambit: Stealth by Karen Miller.[5] Prior to the novel's release, Lanteeb was first mentioned in the promotional StarWars.com article "First Look: Clone Wars Gambit: Stealth," on August 10, 2009.[6] Lanteeb was then pictured for the first time in an image by Chris Trevas in the 2012 reference book The Essential Reader's Companion, which was written by Pablo Hidalgo.[7]
