Klorri-clan battle shield

Klorri-clan battle shields were long teardrop-shaped shields used by the Wookiees of Kashyyyk both practically in battle as well as for ceremonial purposes.

Description

Klorri-clan battle shields could deflect blaster fire.

The shields were shaped like a teardrop and banded with bronzium. They were carved with intricate motifs that were both decorative and symbolic.^[1] While they were primarily used during important rituals and ceremonies, the Wookiees did use them in battle as well.^[2] The hardened wood was strong enough to withstand blaster fire.^[3]

History

Klorri-clan battle shields could be dated back two thousand years before the formation of the Galactic Empire.^[4] They were used by some Wookiees during the Battle of Kashyyyk, one of the final battles of the Clone Wars.^[5] The antiques dealer, Luthen Rael, acquired one of these shields which was displayed in his gallery on Coruscant.^[2]
