Kelivan root was a type of root farmed on the agricultural planet Ronaphaven. By the time of the High Republic Era, the roots could be used to produce both standard cord fibers and stronger variants. At some point, several kelivan root farmers went missing; their crop was lost to Drengir—a type of sentient, carnivorous plant—on Ronaphaven, prompting one of the world's local governors to seek help. However, the governor ultimately canceled the request after determining there were no active Drengir on Ronaphaven.[1]

In 228 BBY,[2] Jedi Knights Bell Zettifar and Burryaga Agaburry traveled to Ronaphaven to investigate the report, seeking evidence of another affliction—the life-draining blight—on any worlds with past Drengir presence. The Ronaphaven governor was displeased with their arrival but nonetheless expounded on his planet's production of high-quality roots that could be processed into cord fibers that Corellians coveted for cargo securing on their cruisers.[1]
