The Kanzer Exiles were an ancient and fanatical flock of reptilians led by the Lord Ravager Korman Lao. These exiles spread their faith through mental enslavement and constructed a world-sized temple near the Valtaullu Rift. In time, the philosophy of the Kanzer Exiles and other groups from the Unknown Regions became part of the ideological foundation of the later organization known as the Sorcerers of Rhand.

The Kanzer Exiles originated from the distant corners of the Unknown Regions
At the dawn of history, in the Valtaullu Rift,[3] from the depths of the Unknown Regions,[2] there existed a fanatical flock of reptilians known as the Kanzer Exiles.[1] They worshiped demons[2] and forcibly spread their faith through the mental enslavement of many minds at once. They were led by a Lord Ravager named Korman Lao, to whom the followers of the order swore loyalty,[3] and in honor of their leader they even built a colossal temple the size of a world.[1]
Many millennia later, mention of the Kanzer Exiles appeared in the Book of Sith within the section «Wild Power», authored by the Dathomirian witch Talzin, who regarded the true capabilities of the organization with skepticism. Darth Sidious studied the available information and faced a choice: whether to recruit the reptilians of Valtaullu for his own purposes or simply destroy them. In any case, Sidious was pleased that Talzin’s records had reminded him of the sectarians, and he began to consider sending his newest Shadow Hand on an expedition into the Unknown Regions.[3]
By the time of the formation of the Galactic Empire, the dark side adept Cronal had discovered the ruins of Lao’s temple after studying scraps of the Taurannik Codex. Along his path, Cronal encountered no followers of the Kanzer Exiles, which was likely explained by the group’s disappearance by that time, as the reptilians of Valtaullu were already considered long-vanished.[2] However, the sect’s existence had not passed without trace, for over many generations their philosophical schools – together with the death cult of the Knell of Muspilli and the Taung priestly community – gave rise to the religious movement known as the Sorcerers of Rhand beneath the shroud of the Perann Nebula within the same Unknown Regions.[1]
Behind the scenes
In The Unknown Regions sourcebook, the name «Kanzer Exiles» was written with capital letters, but later, when referring to the group, the word «exiles» was written in lowercase. This orthographic detail suggested that the group’s followers might indeed have been exiled from somewhere.
