The Temple of Korman Lao was a megastructure the size of an entire world, constructed by the fanatical Kanzer Exiles in honor of their leader, Korman Lao, near the Valtaullu Rift[3] deep within the Unknown Regions.[1] The Kanzer Exiles claimed that they had been able to mentally enslave many sentient minds simultaneously,[4] a power they had likely used while building the temple. However, after generations, the once-imposing structure had shattered, leaving behind an asteroid belt of rubbles.[1]
During the time of the Galactic Empire, the dark side adept Cronal explored the Unknown Regions, hoping to uncover knowledge that would grant him unlimited power. Within the Gunninga Gap, Cronal discovered scraps of the Taurannik Codex, and the arcane hints from that forbidden tome led him to the ruins of Lao’s temple within the Valtaullu Rift. The lore contained in the temple fragments gave him the knowledge he needed to capture the corrupt spirit essence of the ancient Sith Dathka Graush on Korriban.[1]
