The kalidor was a type of savage avian predator from Davnar II,[1] a planet in the Core Worlds.[2] The creature possessed wings and was capable of flight. During the Galactic Civil War, the highest honor awarded by the Alliance to Restore the Republic was the Kalidor Crescent, a medal named for the kalidor. The award included the detailed likeness of a large gold kalidor in flight pinned upon its ribbon.[1]

In the current Star Wars canon, the kalidor was mentioned in the Star Wars Roleplaying sourcebook Lead by Example, which was published by Fantasy Flight Games in 2016 for the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion roleplaying game system.[1] The avians originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where they were created for the 1993 video game Star Wars: X-Wing, in which they appeared as part of the Kalidor Crescent award for players.[3] The Farlander Papers, a companion book written by Rusel DeMaria and included with the limited edition release of the game, specified that the kalidor was the bird depicted on the medal.[4]
