- "For instance, the folk on Etai drink this jybbuk slush covered in condensed nerf milk. It was good enough already, but coulda used some heat to balance out the sweet—so I swapped their traditional fruit garnish for a candied hot pepper that sparkles like Etai's crystal mines."
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Ultimate Cookbook
Jybbyk slush was a red slush beverage made from[1] jybbuk-fruit.[2] The people of the planet Etai drank the slush with a topping of condensed nerf milk and a traditional fruit garnish, creating a sweet combination. The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs then altered this recipe by replacing the traditional garnish with candied hot peppers to balance out the sweetness with heat, creating the beverage known as Spiced Jybbuk Juice. After a culinary tour of the galaxy that he took[1] between 34 ABY and 35 ABY,[3] Tuggs included the recipe for Spiced Jybbuk Juice in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which was published[1] in 35 ABY.[3]
Behind the scenes
Jybbuk slush was created for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak with photography by Ted Thomas. The out-of-universe recipe for Spiced Jybbuk Juice uses a blend of frozen strawberries, frozen watermelon, coconut water, and lime juice to represent jybbuk slush.[1]

- ↑ 3.0 3.1 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook establishes that the publishing of the in-universe The Ultimate Cookbook and the culinary tour that preceded it occurred following the publishing of The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook and prior to the destruction of Kijimi. It also establishes that The Ultimate Cookbook was published following the Festival of the Ancestors that occurred during that time period. Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook further establishes that The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook was published concurrently with the First Order's search for the Resistance base on Batuu, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 34 ABY. In addition, Timelines dates the Festival of the Ancestors and the destruction of Kijimi to 35 ABY, meaning the tour must have taken place between 34 ABY and 35 ABY and The Ultimate Cookbook must have been published in 35 ABY.
