Jettero Heler was the president of the Outer Rim planet Hashaulh.

Biography

Pre-Presidency

At some point in time, Jettero Heler served as the vice president for the Development Commission in the Galactic Senate on the planet Coruscant and represented the Outer Rim planet, Hashaulh. After being awed at the ecumenopolis, Heler wanted the frontier life. To get that, Heler began doing shady deals in the Senate, which caught the eye of Senator Palpatine.[1]

To become Supreme Chancellor, Palpatine needed help from Heler and other associates to run for office. However, Heler chose not to run for the sake of Hashaulh and the president of the planet, Joran Wostikian, who would make Heler the godfather of his son, Soltan. Informing Wostikian about his offer, Joran asked Heler to resign from office and leave the Senate. Heler, who obeyed Joran, resigned from the Senate. Days later, Joran and his wife were killed in a landspeeder accident, and Heler was elected President of Hashaulh. Heler later adopted Soltan and sent him to the Univeristy of Alderaan.[1]

Jettero Heler later became senator and supported Palpatine in the Senate. However, a band of senators, led by Mon Mothma, grow fearful of Palpatine as being emperor. To combat this, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin proposes the construction of the Death Star. Palpatine allows the project, and the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station began construction on the planet Despayre in the Horuz system, which was closed to Hashaulh's asteroid belt.[1]

To make sure nobody witnesses the creation of the planet killer, Heler created a "no man's land" outside of Hashaulh, which prevented both others and Marauders to enter the zone.[1]
