The Imperial citadel was a secret Galactic Empire fortress on the[1] Deep Core[2] planet Byss, the secret throneworld of Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine. Mas Amedda,[1] who served as Grand Vizier of the Empire,[3] retreated to the citadel, where he outlined plans for the New Order[1] Imperial political ideology[4] that would last for 10,000 years.[1]
Behind the scenes
In the current Star Wars canon, the Imperial citadel was mentioned in the "Mas Amedda" card for the "Sith Information Guide" subset of 2015 Topps Star Wars Chrome Perspectives: Jedi vs. Sith, a set released by Topps in 2015.[1] The Imperial Citadel originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in the second issue of the Star Wars: Dark Empire comic series, written by Tom Veitch, illustrated by Cam Kennedy, and published by Dark Horse Comics on[5] February 18, 1992.[6]
