Hyperspace relays,^[2] also known as hyperspace relay stations,^[1] were devices that ensured the transmission of hyperwaves from transceiver to transceiver.^[2] In star systems lacking hyperspace relay stations, starships had to navigate using hyperspace beacons or navigation buoys unless the ship had a sophisticated navigation computer.^[1]
