The hope motif was composed by Michael Giacchino for the 2016 anthology film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Representing hope, the leitmotif serves as Rogue One's main musical theme, and is played throughout the film.[3] Giacchino's music piece uses the same scale degrees as John Williams' "Star Wars Main Title," the same notes forming both the melody of the hope motif and the melody of the Star Wars main theme.[4]

In the LEGO Star Wars: All-Stars episode "The Good Stuff!," which was released on October 31, 2018, and composed by Michael Kramer, the motif is reprised for when R2-D2 tells R0-GR that Cassian Jeron Andor and K-2SO went on to become heroes of the Rebellion.[5]
