Ground-apples were a type of fruit found on the forest moon of Endor. They were used by the sentient Ewok species to make ground-apple stock. During a particularly bleak winter on Endor, the mother of the Ewok Wicket Wystri Warrick provided the last of her ground-apple stock to thicken the broth of a stew made from a kublag the Bright Tree tribe had caught. Despite the thickening, which also used raventhorn root, the stew was not nearly enough to fill the bellies of the tribe.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the new Star Wars canon, ground-apples were mentioned in "The Kroolok," a short story written by Cavan Scott and George Mann and published in the Life Day Treasury anthology in 2021.[1] The fruit originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it appeared as groundapples in the 2007 novel Legacy of the Force: Sacrifice, which was written by Karen Traviss.[2]
