- "Like Lucazec, Gromas supports a mining operation—for phrik, I believe—"
"Yes."
"The Empire has a depot there that includes a full range of fuel options." - ―Moff Wilhuff Tarkin and Darth Vader
Gromas was an astronomical object located at the Perkell sector's Gromas system within the Mid Rim in grid Q-7 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] It was the location of an Imperial depot and supported a mining operation for phrik, a metallic compound that was nearly indestructible. In the year 14 BBY, the Imperial Joint Chiefs believed Gromas' depot was a possible target for former Republic Intelligence captain Berch Teller and his rebel cell and dispatched a task force to defend the installation. The rebels learned of this, however, and attacked Phindar instead.[2]
Behind the scenes
Gromas was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in Tarkin, a novel written by James Luceno[2] and released on November 4, 2014.[3] It later appeared on the galaxy map included in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game,[4] which was released in August of 2016.[5] The roleplaying game placed the planet on grid square Q-7.[4]
