A lightsaber was constructed and used by a member of the Jedi Order who was an old friend of another Jedi, Dooku. After the death of its owner, it fell into the possession of Dooku, who gifted it to the warrior Grievous as the first in the would-be Jedi killer's collection.
History
A Jedi, a member of the Jedi Order[4] and an old friend of Dooku,[1] the Count of Serenno, once a Jedi Master now a Sith Lord, and the face of the Separatists,[5] constructed and used their lightsaber.[1]
After their death, the lightsaber fell into Dooku's possession and was eventually gifted to the Kaleesh cyborg General Grievous shortly after saving his life following the shuttle crash that he had secretly arranged for him.[1] Grievous was later appointed Supreme Martial Commander of the Separatist Droid Armies and became a prolific Jedi hunter who expanded his weapons collection wielding the saber and Dooku's training.[6]
Behind the scenes
Grievous' first lightsaber was first canonically mentioned in the "Helmets" department of the eighth issue of the magazine Star Wars Helmet Collection.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, General Grievous' first lightsaber originally belonged to the Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, and appeared in the Star Wars: Visionaries comic strip The Eyes of Revolution,[7] published on March 16, 2005.[8]
