"I'm not here to make trouble. What do you plan to do with all of this?"
"I present as gift to Rayvis! Great tribute, yes!"
"Tribute – you mean you want to join the Raiders?"
"Join the Raiders, yes! No more prospecting, no longer others saying 'weak' of Garra! Much glory and blood with Rayvis!"
―Cal Kestis and Garra[1]

Garra was a Rodian prospector on the planet Koboh who hoped to join the Bedlam Raiders in order to stop being seen as weak. Gathering contraband to offer as tribute to the Raiders' leader, Rayvis, the Rodian stored it in a cave in the Untamed Downs where they encountered the Jedi Knight Cal Kestis in 9 BBY.

Kestis tried to convince Garra not to join the Raiders, eventually using the Force to persuade the Rodian. Garra then offered Kestis the contraband and he took a Mountaineer jacket.

Garra gathered a tribute of contraband for Rayvis.

Garra was a Rodian who worked as a prospector on the planet Koboh. Sick of being perceived of weak, Garra hoped to join the marauders known as the Bedlam Raiders and gathered contraband to present as tribute to the group's leader, Rayvis. The Rodian kept the contraband on a rock shelf inside a cave within the Untamed Downs area of Koboh.[1]

In 9 BBY,[2] the Jedi Knight Cal Kestis discovered Garra with the contraband in the cave. Questioning what the arsenal was for, he attempted to dissuade the Rodian from joining the Raiders. When pointing out the danger that the Raiders posed did not work, Kestis used the Force to persuade Garra not to join the marauders. With no further need of the contraband, which was risky to keep, Garra offered it to Kestis. The Jedi took the Mountaineer jacket that Garra had in a chest and left the rest for Garra to get rid of.[1]

Personality and traits

"The Raiders are dangerous – and not known to strike deals."
"Danger, eh! Garra gorge self on on danger! Garra lives for thrill of kill! But you are not killer like Garra. You are deaf to the call of battle!"
―Cal Kestis and Garra[1]

Garra considered themselves a killer who thrived on danger and the thrill of killing, dismissing Kestis as someone who did not hear the call of battle. The Rodian planned to join up with the Raiders in order to stop being perceived as weak, but was persuaded otherwise by Kestis's use of the Force. The prospector was no friend of the Galactic Empire and spoke in broken Galactic Basic, refering to themselves in the third person. Garra had green skin and black eyes.[1]

Equipment

"That's quite an arsenal you've got there."
"Arsenal? What? Why do you ask this of Garra? Business is none of yours!"
―Garra[1]

Garra wore a high red collar with a green padded interior, a dark brown ribbed jumper over a brown shirt, black pants, and brown boots. The contraband that the Rodian gathered included a chest with a Mountaineer jacket inside, two crates, three blaster rifles, three thermal detonators, a blanket, and a portable lamp.[1]

Behind the scenes

"Contraband like this could attract the atttention of the Empire."
"Contraband like this – dangerous! Garra is no friend of Imperials… No, no! Deal is off! Too risky!"
―One of the two possible exchanges between Cal Kestis and Garra after Kestis uses the Force[1]

Garra appeared as an optional encounter in the 2023 Respawn Entertainment video game, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. When using the Force to persuade the Garra, the player can convince the Rodian by either suggesting that the Raiders are unreliable and so risky to bargain with or by pointing out that the contraband is illegal and so may draw the attention of the Empire. As the encounter must be completed to unlock the Mountaineer jacket collectable, this article assumes Kestis did convince Garra not to join the Raiders, but does not assume which of the two methods of persuasion he chose.[1]
