Garganchie was a male Gargantua transported by SF-R3 to the Sil Gohtta's Nature Preserve during the High Republic Era. It was Jedi Initiate Lys Solay who named Garganchie.
Around 233 BBY,[1] SF-R3 landed on the planet Kundu Minor with the Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay, and Nubs to refuel. While they were away, local Besalisk sisters Slaygh and Braygh were alerted by Garganchie's bellowing roars coming from the ship. The sisters boarded the ship, and they accidentally released Garganchie. As he approached the village, the villagers assumed the large animal was dangerous, not realizing that gargantuas were actually very peaceful, though easily frightened by crowds. Their screams frightened Garganchie, and he fled, taking refuge in a cave. The Jedi younglings were able to track down Garganchie, but there he was hunted again by Slaygh and Braygh, who sought to protect their town. Frightened again, Garganchie retreated back to the village, where the cries of the villagers scared him even further. He climbed to the top of a large platform overlooking the town. Slaygh and Braygh pursued him with electrostaffs, but when they reached the top, they lost their balance and fell off the side of the platform. Garganchie dove after the sisters, rescuing them. The younglings were then able to calm and capture Garganchie again so that he could be taken to his new home at Sil Gohtta's Nature Preserve.[2]
