Galitan

Galitan was a remote moon^[2] located in the Galitan system^[1] in the Ringali Nebula,^[2] a nebula in the Bormea sector of the Core Worlds.^[1] The turbulent forces of the nebula had caused Galitan to partially shatter into an asteroid field of molten fragments, leaving the moon itself highly unstable.^[2] During the Galactic Civil War, a major battle took place between the Galactic Empire and the New Republic, in which Captain Terisa Kerrill's Titan Squadron and Imperial reinforcements from Admiral Rae Sloane's fleet had trapped General Hera Syndulla's fleet, in an attempt to destroy the prototype Starhawk.^[3] The Starhawk was severely damaged by the Imperial forces and crippled, but the New Republic forces evacuated the ship and used its tractor beam to tug it towards Galitan's exposed core. Despite Imperial attempts to stop Syndulla's forces, they failed and the Starhawk crashed on the moon's core, triggering a massive explosion that destroyed Galitan and every Imperial ship near it. Victorious, the Temperance and its escort fleet escaped the blast wave before it reached them.^[3]
