Plot summary
Mammon Hoole decides that the best way to get to Dantooine would be through the luxury cruise ship Star of Empire. Whilst on board they meet Dash Rendar and Zak meets a computer called SIM. An emergency warning sounds and everyone escapes the ship except Zak, Tash, Dash Rendar, Captain Hajj and some of his crew. The alarms then stop but there is no explosion. The Captain and all his crewmen get killed during the investigation. SIM makes Zak think it is Malik, the person who made him, whereas it is SIM, programmed to subvert, and survivors manage to escape the ship after thwarting the program.
Continuity
Dash Rendar's signature ship, the Outrider, was erroneously called the Outrunner in this book, which has since been retroactively declared another, earlier vessel in Dash's career.[1]
