The GC-8 was a model of droid[1] with relatively humanoid features. Cator was a GC-8 droid who served as a librarian and guardian-protector within the Jedi Temple Archives, protecting the Jedi Order's most sensitive information until he was destroyed by Darth Vader[2] in 19 BBY.[3]

The GC-8 droid first appeared in the 2017 canon comic, Darth Vader (2017) 8, which was written by Charles Soule and pencilled by Giuseppe Camuncoli.[4]
