Pardon (history - links - logs - delete - protect)

Wookieepedia is not a dictionary. I don't think there's anything that makes it different to a real world definition.--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 00:01, November 23, 2018 (UTC)

Delete

  2. I would have CSD'd this myself under the Dictionary clause if someone had marked this for deletion. Documenting all the instances of a non-unique topic in the Star Wars universe doesn't grant that article in-universe uniqueness. Along with Genocide, which is also non-unique for the same reason this article is, you've started a bad trend of creating unnecessary dictionary articles, X9 The Android. Unfortunately, some of us have to learn the hard way. Toprawa and Ralltiir (talk) 02:16, November 23, 2018 (UTC)

  16. "people who don't know what a pardon is could discover it via the Wikipedia link": True, but outside the scope of Wookieepedia's mission. We're here to document the Star Wars universe, not educate readers about real-world concepts that happen to be reflected in Star Wars works. Asithol (talk) 14:19, November 27, 2018 (UTC)

Keep

  1. --X9 The Android (talk) 00:03, November 23, 2018 (UTC) I think that a pardon page deserves to be on Wookieepedia because people who don't know what a pardon is could discover it via the Wikipedia link annotated here, so it's a way to discover new things. Other thing that must not be tolerated here is comparating Anakin's story to the Bible, as I removed from the Midi-chlorian article.

Comments

  • According to the logs this was previously deleted on November 9, 2009. Reason: pure English term, no SW-unique content--DarthRuiz30 (talk) 00:04, November 23, 2018 (UTC)
  • But we now have SW content for the article, as Embo, Dengar and Jeeta were given full pardons on The Aftermath Trilogy.--X9 The Android (talk) 00:11, November 23, 2018 (UTC)
    • That still doesn't have something that makes it unique in SW. A real world definition can cover that. --DarthRuiz30 (talk) 00:12, November 23, 2018 (UTC)
      • But perhaps in further works the nature of pardons in the SW universe can be expanded, as in real life, they were given to pirates, for example, while in the SW world, they are given to bounty hunters. They aren't exactly the same than in the real word.--X9 The Android (talk) 00:17, November 23, 2018 (UTC)
        • If it is somehow given a unique, "Star Wars-esy" spin in a future work, then the page will be created. Until that time, there is no reason to keep it. Fan26 (Talk) 02:49, November 23, 2018 (UTC)
    • X9 I think readers would be better served by having that information on the individual character pages. Maybe it could also find a home in the bounty Hunter article, given that Scum and Villainy discussed the Empire giving pardons to bounty hunters like Bossk and Boba so they could be used as de facto enforcers in the Outer Rim? Its interesting information on how crimes of bounty hunters were dealt with by different governing body is. Toqgers (talk) 17:19, November 30, 2018 (UTC)
