Octani (talk - history - links - logs - delete - protect)

There is nothing in the comic the Octani are named in to indicate they are a separate species from the Volpai beyond potentially their name, though it is also important to note that there are multiple species that have more than a single name. There isn't any source provided that even indicates they are canonically a doppelganger of the Volpai as is the case with certain other species. In terms of actual traits, the Octani are a perfect match of the Volpai—same body shape, same number of arms, same number of fingers, same number (and placement) of eyes, and even the same ridges on their foreheads. If they hadn't been referred to as Octani in the comic, there's almost a 100% chance they would have just been listed as an appearance for the Volpai. I'm honestly certain they just forgot the species was already named when they wrote the comic.

There is one hitch worth mentioning, however: There is a feminine four-armed individual also shown in the comic alongside the Octani/Volpai that we would typically recognize. This second individual uses the same design as the Codru-Ji, from Legends. The comic doesn't make any explicit indication that this is intended to be another Octani, albeit with sexual dimorphism, so I don't believe it will hold too much weight, but it is worth mentioning for full clarity nonetheless. (Side note; assuming we don't take this as an indication of sexual dimorphism for the Octani/Volpai, this would be another good shout for a currently ongoing CT...)

Since we can't prove that they Codru-Ji-looking individual is not related by blood, since they also refer to the Octani as their uncle, just like the infobox character, I say we keep as is for now, too much uncertainty without additional information.
